About us

Howdy!

I’m Irfan Siddiqui. Living in the central part of India. Having an interest in sports and writing, here are some of my story’s highlights.

Introduction

I didn’t just choose a random name for the blog but have given the name Onelifevolleyball cause for us – a sportsman, we have one life and we dedicated it to one sport. Hence, Onelifevolleyball.

About The Author

It all started in those innocent days of childhood, I remember how I found joy in playing volleyball during the drill session in school, as that one-hour session was not enough for me, I started playing before and after school hours. Within months I was playing for the school team, and later in high school I was selected for the tournaments… those were the pure forms of joy I discovered, the moments I lived had a sense of purpose it was never a hobby it was within me that bought me to the peak of where I was winning the trophy for school.

The passion that brought joy to me for the sport was so great that it made me a pro in volleyball. I was making headlines in a local newspaper, and people used to recognise me now. Still, one unfortunate incident changed everything in my life – I was hit with a spike directly on my head, resulting in my becoming unconscious for hours and two black eyes. Later, I found that I had bleeding in my brain which kept me away from the game on the advice of doctors for months.

Being distant from sports several years after the accident I joined corporate and as life flows it took me in different directions. Adulthood came with responsibilities and slowly work became a priority, sideling, the passion I had for volleyball. As every single corporate slave says, I too had no time for myself, the passion that bought joy once was killed by adulthood. I was lost, and envious, as I had no purpose in life now.

The work that took me away from sports also became the reason for me to reconnect with the joy I once had, the corporate I used to work for sent me to Nebraska for an onsite project I was working on. I was 29 by then, and my sister and her two daughters were in the States and living very close to my office. Often from work, I used to visit the University of Nebraska to take them home. Since the sport is in my blood, my niece too had a passion for volleyball and to my surprise, they were training very hard to be selected for Cornhuskers. This is when I become their source of learning. I was on the court every single day after office to train my niece, it was a great stressbuster for me as I now had a purpose.

The pure form of joy that I had discovered in school came again the day my niece joined the Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s volleyball team, the hard work they did has now paid off. And from being the source of knowledge, for my niece, I become a coach for many teenagers in the city. Many kids & teenagers were training under me now and as life flows it took me back from corporate to volleyball as a coach.

Being back on the court I realised how much I miss the feeling of joy, the excitement, the feeling of fulfillment. It was that moment when I decided to start this website/blog. I want to journal my experience from being a sportsman to a coach. I want to help every single kid as I helped my niece join the team. So that I can reach those who cannot reach me physically, it’s a way for me to reconnect with what I love!

Now, about the blog – It’s not just a blog but an online community for everyone who shares the same feelings about sports. With 20+ years of experience, I’m here to help you in the game. I’ll share my experience and the insights of the game from a player and coach perspective. And I’m here to hear your story, what drives you to the game, what motivates you to remain in the court – let’s dig into the articles and join the community under the comments section.

Mission & Vission

My mission and vision for Onelifevolleyball are pretty defined, I’m here to create a detailed Volleyball guide for anyone looking for help. I will continuously update all its articles under the guide to remain updated for new users.

I’ll open up a contribution forum once the blog is ready with a complete volleyball guide for you all to participate in and provide me with suggestions so we can make a useful resource that has everything related to volleyball, like, a wiki of Onelifevolleyball.

Here you can find the articles and guide to check out!
